Welcome to the woods
Stedsans is a wild outdoor resort and restaurant in Hyltebruk, Halland, where we aim to combine the surroundings of wild nature and a permaculture farm with the luxury of eating a beautiful meal made from the best and freshest ingredients possible, and a simple but comfortable place to rest by the lake. We call the place a ’lab for the lifestyle of the future’, and try to make every choice and action as sustainable as possible, for the sake of our guests, our staff, and the planet.
We believe that all is one, and that the vitality of high-quality, freshly harvested foods can be experienced and benefitted from by people.
During the week we offer our Thursday Barn Night dinner around the bonfire before a stay in one of our cabins or tents. The dinner is included in the price.
The forest restaurant is open on Fridays and Saturdays and the 6 course dinner is included when you stay a night on a weekend.
Every day we make breakfast with homebaked bread, soaked granola, and fresh greens, fruit and berries from the forest and fields surrounding us – and much more.
Sometimes extra seats for dinner or breakfast are available for guests not spending the night. These can be booked through our booking system.

How to get here by car
Our address is Bohult 109, 31491 Hyltebruk.
You find the sign to Bohult in the little village Hallaböke. Please try and use the road Nissadalsvägen leading to Bohult out of respect for our neighbours.
How to get here by public transportation
The nearest airports are Copenhagen, Malmö/Sturup and Gothenburg. All are within about 2-2,5 hours drive from Bohult by car.
The nearest large train station is Halmstad. Go to sj.se to plan your trip.
Bus 400 leaves from Halmstad to Hyltebruk every hour.
From Hyltebruk you go by taxi the last 10 kilometers.
A baby crib can be borrowed at the reception. Please ask for it when you arrive. The crib is equipped with a mattress, but please bring your own duvet etc. for the baby.
Stedsans in the Woods is a remote, wild, outdoor location. It is important that you bring good shoes, preferably also wellingtons/rubber boots and warm clothes matching the weather. Flip-flops for trips to the sauna and showers may be handy. Woolen underwear is not a bad idea – not even in summer as the temperatures can drop at nighttime. Bring bathing suit for swims in the lake and trips to the sauna (if you’re not into the full Scandinavian sauna experience, not wearing any clothes).
If you have booked the shelter stay – bring sleeping bag and mattress and please note that this accommodation is quite a primitive one where you sleep under the stars with a shelter for the rain.
If you are a light sleeper, a sleep mask may be a good idea, as our curtains let the light and view to the stars (and sun) in. We have sleep masks for sale at the reception area.
In some periods around midsummer mosquitos and knots are around. We offer homemade, all-natural mosquito repellant, but bring your own if you prefer. Light, long-sleeved clothes help, and don’t forget antihestimine if you are allergic.
As all of our water is recycled and/or returned back to the source, it is very important that we keep it clean. Therefore, we kindly ask you to only use fully biodegradable soap, toothpaste and shampoo when you use the showers or toilet sinks. Soaps and shampoo are provided at the showers and toilets, but feel free to bring your own. We also have a selection of toiletries for sale at the reception.
What not to bring
We provide towels, toiletries and all bed linen. A hair dryer can be used at the reception. Please notice that most of the resort is placed off the grid, with no access to electricity.
Please don’t bring your best clothes as there is a chance they will get dirty and you will get cold.
We recycle water from the showers, and therefore we provide you with homemade 100% natural soaps to use for showering during your stay.
Please let us know about your food allergies or eating preferences when we meet in the forest. Our food is fresh, clean and simple, and easily adjusted to the most common allergies. We are happy to cook vegetarian meals, too.
However, if your food allergies are out of the ordinary, please let us know beforehand by email email@example.com.
Please note that we do not offer fully vegan menus as our kitchen is not suitable for this.
– Will I know if I get a cabin or a tent?
Unfortunately we cannot promise exactly what kind of accommodation you will be offered, but we promise that it will be nice. If you are travelling more than 2 people together you most likely will get a tent, as this is the most spacious option. You are also welcome to send us an email with your preference, and we will see what we can do. Both options are great in each their way. The tents are dark, cosy and more spacious, and the cabins are light and more minimalisticly furnished, with a great view to the forest.
– Can we bring our kids?
Absolutely, they will probably have a blast in the woods! We have boats and canoes and lots of room for kids to roam and have fun in Nature.
Please notice that we do not offer specific kids menus, and that the 3-4 hour 6-course dinners can be lots of fun and a new experience for older kids, whereas they can be a bit more of a challenge with toddlers. Our casual dinners on Sundays and weekdays are perfectly well suited for children of all ages.
– And how about our dog?
Dogs are very welcome everywhere in the woods except for the restaurant.
– What if we only want the food experience?
Sign up for our newsletter HERE and you will get an email when we release dates for dinner only-reservations.
– And if we want to we add more food?
The restaurant is open on Fridays and Saturdays and a 6 course dinner is included when you book a stay on those nights. On weekends you can add breakfast to your reservation. On weekdays breakfast is included and there is instead the possibility to add a 3-course dinner basket to your reservation. All reservations and add ons can be made HERE.
We also offer the option of making a DIY lunch pack, the staff will give more information about this on site.
