WELCOME TO SUNNY LEA
Get away from it all! Find comfort and peace in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Wales.
Escape to Sunnylea! Come and relax in the Sleepout with exceptional views of the beautiful Vrynwy valley, even while you lie in bed. Sunnylea is the perfect location offering peace and quiet within your own secluded site, with your only neighbours being sheep or the occasional buzzard soaring overhead.
The Sleepout was built by Mike to appreciate the fantastic views down the Vyrnwy Valley and to the stunning hills of Mid Wales. It was hand crafted from unusual pieces of curved Oak that Mike sourced through his work as a tree surgeon; he has created a cosy wooden cabin lined with herringbone brick walls, and willow and lime washed cob-plaster, with handmade windows.
The Important Stuff
Inside The Sleepout there is a wood burning stove which will keep you warm even on the coldest day. Wood is supplied as Mike is a tree surgeon and we have plenty of fire wood for you to use! This is a place for peace and quiet, to enjoy the outdoors but with warmth and comfort. The double bed is on a large sleeping/sitting platform at the back of The Sleepout and has a small ladder to get to it. More mattresses can be added if required (room for up to 2 children or close friends) There are candles in lanterns and solar lights, as well as the glow from the fire, to light the cabin. This is camping, but luxurious camping! We love dogs but please give us a ring to discuss if you are thinking of bringing your dog to Sunnylea. Please keep in mind that there is wildlife and livestock all around us, so they will have to be kept on a lead at all times.
The Sleepout is a self-catering retreat and we’ve crafted a separate camp kitchen just next to the cabin which has a hand-made pizza oven, as well as a gas burner and beautiful bespoke wooden sink. There is also a fire bowl, essential for toasted marshmallows! Meifod is the closest village at just a mile away, and has a shop for the basics.
Unique shower pod with gas powered shower and sink 60 paces away from the ‘sleepout’ and Compost ‘treebog’ (toilet!) 30 paces away from the sleepout with a view into the hills.
