Let yourself be dazzled by the eastern splendour of this roulotte, and an interior that will take you right inside the Arabian Nights. Settled peacefully in the gardens of Pascal and Pascaline’s house, it dates from the 1900s and is a truly authentic example of the traditional roulottes that used to accompany the travelling fairgrounds of the early 20th century. Your hosts are well-travelled artisans, who have a passion for restoring these magical old wagons. They’re talented in the kitchen too – breakfast, homemade and delicious, is served in the house or in your outside garden sitting room on fine days, where you can take in the views! Tiled loos and showers are steps away in the guests’ section of the house, along with a large farmhouse kitchen and breakfast room shared with the other roulottes where you can cook and socialise, though you are free to gather wood in the forest for a traditional campfire of an evening, woodsmoke curling up towards the stars. Tranquil, remote and utterly enchanting.
